Year 5 and 6 Road Safety show
St Joseph’s pupils, years 5 to 6, were lucky enough to watch a spectacular performance showcasing road safety. Charlotte and Paul from ‘The Riot Act’ acted out a real life scenario involving secondary school students (Jay and Alex) and how they travel to and from school across busy roads.
Instead of taking precaution, they messed around on the pavement and on more than one occasion, nearly had a fatal accident. One careless mistake led to Jay injuring himself severely. The show spent a lot of time talking about the roads that surrounded their school. Pollution from the cars affected all the pupils that attended the school especially children with asthma.
We learnt how to be safe on the road and the three most important rules used when crossing: STOP, LOOK, LISTEN. Funny and informative, the show was something to be remembered by all. We hope to see the Riot Act again.
