Illuminate Rotherhithe and Mudlarking
As part of our ongoing effort to provide a rich and varied experience to the children’s education we have had some excellent trips recently. Year 4 and Year 5 performed a Grand Ceilidh in the old Decathlon building in Surrey Quays as part of the ‘Illuminate Rotherhithe’ programme of events. These events are being run to commemorate the departure of the Mayflower for America 200 years ago. There were over 200 children at the Ceilidh. It was quite the sight! In addition to this Year 5 had a fascinating experience down on the foreshore of the River Thames. It is not often we have the opportunity to get down and mucky in the River Thames. A ‘mudlarker’ called Alan spent time showing the children all the different things that can be found on the riverfront including a 200 year old coin and lots of old animal bones! The children were fascinated. Do remember to check our website for photos of trips that have already happened and the diary for trips to come!
